Pakistan Television (PTV) will not air Pakistan vs England cricket series after federal cabinet rejected PTV’s proposal to partner with Indian company for broadcasting the bilateral cricket series scheduled to be held in England.
Addressing a press conference, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting – Fawad Chaudhry apprised that the PTV had sought federal cabinet’s approval regarding liaising with Indian company for live broadcasting of bilateral cricket series between Pakistan and England.
Fawad Chaudhry announced that the federal cabinet has in fact rejected PTV’s proposal citing that the government cannot allow any partnership with any Indian company.
Pakistan would explore different options, including partnering with England Cricket Board (ECB) and other foreign broadcasters for live telecast of the cricket series.
Liaising with any Indian company is subjected to India reverting its Aug 5th 2019 decision and restore Jammu and Kashmir’s special autonomous status.
The financial repercussions of this decision will be borne by PTV and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), he added.
