Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan – Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting, has announced that Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) to live telecast Tarawih prayers in Ramazan.
She further urged people to stay at home and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the month of Ramazan with respect to congregational prayers, issued by government in conjunction with healthcare workers and Ulema.
The announcement comes as earlier, on April 18, government and prominent Ulema held a joint press conference announcing the conditional permission to hold congregational prayers in Ramazan – including Friday and Tarawih prayers.
A 20-point guideline was issued for the people in regard with congregational prayers in Ramazan.
Additionally, Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman and Mufti Taqi Usmani had announced to offer payers at home during Ramazan amid COVID-19 pandemic.
