Khalid Khurshid has been sworn in as Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan on Tuesday (today).
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Khalid Khurshid was sworn in as Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan in a small ceremony on Tuesday (today).
Members of the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly and other high officials attended the oath taking ceremony which was administered by Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon.
The oath taking ceremony was held at Governor House and was limited to a small number of people who are subjected to strict COVID-19 SOPs and preventive measures.
The development comes as earlier, Khalid Khurshid got elected as Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister by winning the in-house voting on Monday.
Khalid Khurshid secured 22 votes, whereas joint opposition’s candidate advocate Amjad Hussain got nine votes.
Prior to this, PTI’s Amjad Ali Zaidi was elected Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly by securing 18 vote, whereas advocate Ahmed was elected as Deputy Speaker by securing 22 votes.
It is to be noted that PTI had won 10 seats in Gilgit-Baltistan elections, following which another five independent candidates announced their decision to join the party as well.
In addition to it, PTI also has the support of the MWM, which has one general seat. Its 16-member strength is set to earn the party six reserved seats.
