Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding member, Najeeb Haroon has resigned from his position as Member of the National Assembly (MNA).
Najeeb Haroon took to social media to announce his resignation as MNA from NA-256 Karachi, a seat which he had won on PTI ticket, back in 2018 elections.
Expressing his views as to why he resigned, he stated, “It’s been 20 months and have not been able to improve either my constituency nor my hometown Karachi and in good conscience cannot justify being in this position.”
“to become an MNA was never my intention. I wanted to do something for my city where my children and grandchildren live. I wanted to do something so they don’t want to leave for some other country. i have not given up, and would still stand with,” he added.
He further mentioned that despite being a founding member of the party, he was never a part of the decision making process and was often excluded from a decision regarding critical issues and policies.
Mr Haroon stated that his intentions were never to enjoy perks of being an MNA, and he was the only elected member of the National Assembly who did not accept his salary and was among one of the highest tax payers in the country.
