Provincial governments on Thursday, in a bid to prevent further academic loss of students, decided against the provision of winter vacations for schools this year.
As per details, during an inter-provincial education ministers’ virtual meeting chaired by Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood, it was decided that winter vacations in schools will either be partially reduced or completely abolished this year.
The decision has been made to prevent further academic loss of students as educational institutions were closed for extended duration in wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting failed to agree upon the issue of educational calendar and board examinations of 8th grade.
The next inter-provincial education ministers is scheduled to be held in December next month.
Meanwhile Punjab’s Education Minister has announced that winter vacations will not be observed in the province this year.
