President Arif Alvi, on Satruday, visited National Assembly (NA), and reviewed arrangements for the upcoming parliamentary session on Monday.
Arif Alvi visited the main hall of the National Assembly and was accompanied by Deputy Speaker NA Qasim Khan Suri along with various other administrative staff who briefed the premier on the special arrangements and preparations for the National Assembly session that is scheduled for Monday.
The premier was briefed that keeping in line with the healthcare guidelines as recommended by medical experts, parliamentarians will be seated at a safe distance from one another as part of the social distancing measures amid COVID-19 outbreak.
Furthermore, additional healthcare staff and medical personnel will be present at the day, while special passes will be issued to media teams and personnel according to the recommendations of Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA).
It is to be noted that a National Assembly session is scheduled on Monday to discuss the coronavirus situation in the country, whereas opposition will present its queries and suggestions, and will be briefed by treasury benches on the government’s steps to tackle this crisis. Opposition has also submitted a requisition to convene a session of the upper house (senate) as well.
