President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi has tested positive for COVID-19 coronavirus on Monday (today).
President Arif Alvi took to social media to apprise that he has tested positive for COVID-19 after receiving first dose of COVID-19 vaccine earlier this month.
Had first dose of vaccine, but antibodies start developing after 2nd dose that was due in a week, he said.

It is to be noted that President Arif Alvi and his wife Samina Alvi had received first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at a vaccination center in Islamabad’s Tarlai area on March 15th.

Prior to this PM Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi had also tested positive for COVID-19 on March 20th last week.
Pakistan is witnessing its third COVID-19 wave with country’s positivity ratio surpassing 11 % mark on Monday (today).
According to the data of National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) 40,369 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 4,525 came back positive, taking the national positivity ratio to 11.21%.
Pakistan reported 41 COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours with most deaths occurring in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Pakistan’s COVID-19 death toll stands at 14,256. Punjab has reported 6,246 COVID-19 deaths; Sindh – 4,491; KP – 2,301; Islamabad – 561; Balochistan – 206; AJK – 348 and 103 casualties in Gilgit Baltistan so far.
The National COVID-19 tally stands at 659,116 cases with Sindh reporting the highest COVID-19 patients with 264,889 cases; Punjab – 215,227; KP – 85,531; Islamabad – 56,450; Balochistan – 19,525; AJK – 12,484 and 5,010 cases in Gilgit Baltistan.
A total of 598,197 people have successfully recovered the virus with 46,663 active cases in the country so far.
