Pakistan People Party’s (PPP) member and former Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Chief – Farzana Raja has been declared proclaimed offender in BISP corruption case with court issuing non-bailable arrest warrants for her arrest.
During the hearing of BISP corruption case in Accountability Court on Monday (today), Farzana Raja was declared a proclaimed offender over financial embezzlement allegations during her tenure as BISP chairperson between 2008 to 2013.
Accountability Court Judge Asghar Ali issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Farzana Raja, directing the authorities to block her national identity card (NIC) and place her name on the Exit Control List (ECL).
The court has summoned the NAB prosecutor during the next hearing set on June 14 after the counsel of the co-accused in the case argued that indictment could not be made on interim reference.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has accused Farzana Raja of being involved in financial embezzlement amounting to Rs 1.5 billion from BISP fund.
Farzana Raja is also accused of allotting illegal contracts to four advertising companies that inflicted Rs46 billion loss to the support program.
