Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Rashid Rabbani passed away in Karachi due to COVID-19 coronavirus on Thursday (today).
According to family sources, Rashid Rabbani was undergoing treatment at a private hospital and had been put on ventilator as his health deteriorated.
Rabbani had tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday a day earlier, and later succumbed to his illness today.
Rashid Rabbani was serving as Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Political Affairs. His funeral prayers will be held at around 10:30 pm at Umar Shareef Park Block II Clifton near Bilawal Chowrangi.
Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani took to social media to confirm the passing away of senior PPP leader Rashid Rabbani on Thursday.
Meanwhile, co-chairman PPP and former president Asif Ali Zardari has said that Rashid Rabbani’s sacrifices for the party and for democracy are unforgettable.
