Prime Minister Imran Khan’s corona relief tiger force receives global acknowledgement, gets appreciation from British media.
The Daily Telegraph – a well-known British daily, has acknowledged and appreciated Prime Minister Imran Khan’s initiative to establish corona relief tiger force. The British daily highlighted the significance of the volunteer force comprising of 400,000 students, including 50,000 engineers, 45,000 teachers, and 5,000 or 6,000 lawyers reflect the determination and resolve of country’s youth to serve the nation and that the fact that 30 per cent are always available and ready to serve when contacted will immensely assist the country’s already burdened civil administration and workforce in tackling the COVID-19 threat.
The corona relief tiger force is tasked with assisting the police, civil servants and health officials in implementing social distancing measures and guidelines by going door to door, visiting commercial centres to engage with people and spread awareness regarding coronavirus threat and relevant preventive measures.
The volunteer force will also take part in disbursing ration packages to the needy who have been facing severe economic repercussions of coronavirus pandemic.
Responding to the opposition’s scepticism regarding any hidden political agenda behind the voluntary force, special advisor to the Prime Minister on youth affairs – Usman Dar has stated that the corona relief tiger force is strictly a non-political volunteer force with only one task i.e. to assist civil administration in its fight against coronavirus outbreak.
“They have been told they don’t need to be trouble makers, they are there to be facilitator. They don’t have any official authority,” he noted.
It is to be noted that countries around the world have either re-called their retired healthcare workers, civilian volunteers or resorted to army’s assistance to help the civil administration in tackling the virus pandemic which has resulted in both financial and human resource crisis.
