Senior PML-Q leader Chaudhry Moonis Elahi has been sworn in as new Federal Minister for Water Resources on Monday (today).
As per details, President of Pakistan Arif Alvi administered the oath to the newly appointed federal minister in an auspicious oath taking ceremony held at President House Islamabad.
Moonis Elahi is the son of senior PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi who is also the current Speaker Punjab Assembly.
The development is a follow up of PTI’s PTI commitment to its allies PML-Q and GDA over the provision of a federal ministry.
Sources say that talks to give MQM and GDA a federal ministry each, as promised, are also underway.
Prior to this, the portfolio of Ministry of Water Resources was held by PTI’s Faisal Vawda who in fact had resigned from the post to cast his vote in the Senate elections earlier this year.
