Prime Minister Imran Khan met a delegation of Selani Welfare Trust which was headed by Molana Basheer Farooqi on Wednesday.
The PM and the philanthropist discussed the implications of lockdown in the country and especially in Karachi. The trust’s chairperson urged the premier to ease the lockdown in Karachi so that the manufacturing sector resumes functioning.
He said that like pharmaceuticals and food processing units have been allowed to start their operations it is necessary that manufacturing units should be allowed to work with complete abidance to social distancing, safety gear and other SOPs and protocols of disease prevention.
He suggested to the PM that he should convene a meeting with traders from across the country and because traders and industrialists can collectively provide solutions for growing unemployment in this grim situation.
Farooqi expressed his hope that the PM would make decisions according to the teachings of religion and make positive moves in the direction of establishing an interest banking system for which he also presented the PM with books related to the subject.
