Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday (today) launched Ehsaas Mobile Langar project aimed at providing more than 1,000 free meals to the poor.
Ehsaas Mobile Langar project has been launched in Islamabad and Rawalpindi in its first phase and will provide 1,000 to 1,5000 meals to the poor on a daily basis.
The project has been launched on a probationary basis and will later be expanded to other parts of the country.

Expressing his views at the launching ceremony, PM Imran Khan noted that the project is aimed at practical implementation of his vision that ‘no one should go to bed hungry’.
Meanwhile, Director-General of the Baitul Maal – Senator Aun Bappi apprised about the key-features of Ehsaas Mobile Langar project and noted that the initiative is somewhat similar to ‘Meals on Wheels’ programme in United States.
The food will be prepared on these mobile trucks and will cater to the provision of free meals for lunch and dinner.

SAPM on Poverty Alleviation – Dr Sania Nishtar highlighted that a ‘donors group’ has been established to collect donations and financial aid from NGOs, celebrities, philanthropists and anyone else who wishes to finically contribute towards government’s initiative to provide free meals to the poor.
It is to be noted that prior to this government had launched ‘Panahgas’ (shelters) under Ehsaas Program aimed at providing shelter and a decent place to sleep, rest for the homeless.
