PM Imran Khan has once again urged the international community and world leaders to play their due role in tackling online hate and extremism.
PM Imran Khan, while talking to with Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), called upon the international community to ensure a united effort against online hate speech and extremism.
There should be international action against hate preaching websites and platforms, said the prime minister.
During his interview, the premier also apprised that he has discussed the Ontario attack in which four family members of a Pakistani-origin Canadian family were killed.
Canadian PM Justin Trudeau is a leader who understands the importance of fighting online hate and Islamophobia, remarked PM Imran Khan.
The development comes as earlier, four people belonging from a Pakistani-origin Muslim family were killed after a pickup truck ran over them after the driver identified the group as ‘Muslims’ and intentionally rammed them in Ontario, Canada earlier this week.
The deceased were identified as Syed Afzaal – 46, his wife Madiha Salman – 44, their 15-year-old daughter Yumnah Afzaal and Syed Afzaal’s 74-year-old mother.
Following the incident, PM Imran Khan had expressed ‘shock’ and raised concerns over growing Islamophobia in the west.
