Prime Minster Imran Khan is expected to chair the National Coordination Committee (NCC) to decide over the extension or relaxation of lockdown directives today.
The NCC meeting is expected to be attended by all chief ministers to develop a consensus on easing coronavirus lockdown country-wide.
The meeting will review the coronavirus pandemic situation in the country, and is expected to take a final decision about which sectors should be opened first as the number of patients surged past.
Prior to this, on Tuesday, the Federal Cabinet had approved a proposal about easing country-wide restrictions after May 9.
Furthermore, a meeting of the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), on Wednesday, had also given its recommendations to ease lockdown restrictions in the country.
In addition to it Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh had opposed the reopening of educational institutions, a recommendation proposed in an inter-provincial education ministers’ conference chaired by Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood. The three provinces maintained their stance stressing that educational institutions must remain closed until the virus outbreak is neutralized.
