Prime Minister Imran Khan is scheduled to attend and address the meeting of World Economic Forum (WEF) via video link on Wednesday (today).
As per the details, PM Imran Khan will address the WEF session at 8:30pm local time. The Prime Minister will inform the leaders about coronavirus situation in the country and government’s steps to tackle the crisis.
According to Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, PM Imran Khan will also highlight the inhumane policies imposed by Indian government in the disputed territory of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and that more than nine million Muslim majority population of the Kashmir valley has been practically imprisoned and are suffering from the lack of access to basic medical facilities due to strict lockdown.
The WEF session will include several world leaders who will discuss and debate the virus pandemic situation and its repercussions to encourage cooperation among countries and formulate a uniform global policy to deal with this crisis.
The World Economic Forum has warned of disastrous economic repercussion of COVID-19 crisis that will severely affect all the countries, especially the developing ones.
“The crisis has devastated lives and livelihoods. It has triggered an economic crisis with far-reaching implications and revealed the inadequacies of the past,” said Saadia Zahidi – Managing Director WEF.
