Prime Minister Imran Khan has once again stressed the need to promote tourism and significance of tackling climate change while on his visit to Naran, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday (today).
According to Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), PM Imran Khan during his visit to Naran, inaugurated various initiatives aimed at turning the valley into a ‘tourist spot of international standard’.
PM Imran Khan inaugurated the ‘River Bank Protection and Habitat Restoration Programme’ which will oversee the plantation of cedar and pine trees in the area under the ‘Clean and Green Pakistan Vision’.
The initiative will help protect riverbanks, prevent accumulation of silt in dams and enhance Naran’s beauty as well as improving the environment.
Addressing the event, PM Imran Khan distributed motorbikes among Community River Rangers to ensure surveillance of River Kunhar, its lacks and tributaries to check illegal fishing. Besides, a two-year ban has been imposed on all kinds of fishing in River Kunhar, Saif-ul-Malook and Dudipatsar lakes to raise trout and other fish varieties.
The government also intends to launch ‘Naran Destination Trout Trophy Fishing’ which will adopt ‘catch and release’ approach to keep hunting of Trout and other wildlife within the established limit. Additionally, 30,000 brown Trout fish will be released in River Kunhar to increase population of this species.
The premier also launched ‘Emergency Response Service’ which will assist and facilitate tourists in case of emergency.
Furthermore, PM Imran Khan also addressed Tiger Force volunteers during his visit to Naran and accentuated government’s resolve to tackle climate change via pro-environment initiatives and policies.
The prime minister stressed that government is spending significant financial capital on environmental projects and that ten billion tree tsunami program will change the environment.
Highlighting the significance of tourism, the prime minister noted that improved tourism will generate jobs and will ensure prosperity in the country.
