PM Imran Khan has stressed upon the need and significance of rehabilitation, protection of historic and religious sites in order to promote religious tourism in the country.
Chairing a meeting in Islamabad, PM Imran Khan reviewed Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh’s integrated development and management plan, conservation and restoration of Lahore’s historic Badshahi Mosque and shrines located in Punjab.
The prime minister directed the authorities to formulate a comprehensive plan allowing for the utilization of the state land adjacent to shrines for hospitals and educational institutions.
The meeting was virtually attended by CM Punjab Usman Buzdar, Provincial Minister of Punjab for Auqaf and Religious Affairs – Syed Saeed ul Hassan, Provincial Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht, SAPM to CM Punjab Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Chief Secretary Punjab and other senior government officials.
The forum was informed that a plan has been devised for the improvement of Data Darbar’s surrounding infrastructure to facilitate Zaireen as well as make this area center of religious tourism and education.
As per details, Data Darbar will be transformed into a welfare center where the deserving Zaireen will not only be provided with food and accommodation but arrangements will also be made for their education.
Meanwhile, the renovation and conservation plan of Badshahi mosque, the meeting was informed that arrangements will be made to provide better facilities to the worshippers besides construction of different facilities including Quran Hall.
