PM Imran Khan on Monday, stressed upon reforestation, plantation drives at CGPI award ceremony in Islamabad.
Expressing his views at Clean Green Pakistan Index (CGPI) award ceremony in the federal capital on Monday, PM Imran Khan highlighted the need and significance of reforestation and plantation drives amid rising repercussions and severe impacts of global warming and climate change.
The major focus of the initiative is to inculcate a spirit of competition on cleanliness initiatives in the cities and facilitate the behavioral change, building positive attitudes, institutional strengthening for better water, sanitation and hygiene services and facilities, he said.
The premier also reiterated government’s commitment to achieve its ambitious target of planting 10 billion trees to tackle climate change threat in country.
The Prime Minister hinted at introducing a system of reward and punishment to overcome climate change hazards.
He declared that 35 sub indicators used to rank cities are based on five core pillars namely access to water, access to sanitation, hygiene, solid waste management and plantation.
The Clean Green Pakistan Index (CGPI) was launched on November 25th 2019 last year to address climate change issues in the country.
