PM Imran Khan has once again stressed upon the significance of government’s pro-environment measure while sharing ‘amazing result’ of land transformation due to plantation drive.

It is pertinent to know that PM Imran Khan led PTI government has put especial emphasis on pro-environment measures and initiatives to tackle the threat posed by climate change.
Among such initiatives is the ‘Billion Tree Tsunami’ project which was was launched in 2014, by the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Pakistan, as a response to the challenge of global warming. Pakistan’s Billion Tree Tsunami restores 350,000 hectares of forests and degraded land to surpass its Bonn Challenge commitment.
The project aimed at improving the ecosystems of classified forests, as well as privately owned waste and farm lands, and therefore entails working in close collaboration with concerned communities and stakeholders to ensure their meaningful participation through effectuating project promotion and extension services. The projected was completed in August 2017, ahead of schedule.
Following the programmes success and notable results, the government has since than launched yet another ambitious project titled Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Programme’ which is a four-year (2019-2023) project by Government of Pakistan with the total cost of 125.1843 billion.
The project is being implemented across Pakistan by the Ministry of Climate Change along with Provincial and territorial Forest and Wildlife departments. The Prime Minister of Pakistan inaugurated this Programme on 2nd September 2018 during “Plant for Pakistan Day”.
