Prime Minister Imran Khan is scheduled to visit neighboring Afghanistan tomorrow.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan – Mansoor Ahmad Khan, took to social media on Wednesday, announcing that PM Imran Khan is scheduled to visit Afghanistan on November 19th tomorrow.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan visiting Kabul tomorrow for meeting Afghan President Ashraf Ghani,” he tweeted.
The premier will discuss bilateral relations and matters of mutual interests to strengthen relations between the two countries.
This is the Prime Minister’s first visit to Afghanistan since assuming office. The Prime Minister’s delegation will comprise the Foreign Minister, Adviser for Commerce and Investment, and senior officials, said Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
The premier’s visit to Afghanistan will comprise of tete-e-tete with President Ashraf Ghani, delegation-level talks, and joint press stake-out.
The focus would be on further deepening the fraternal bilateral relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the Afghan peace process, and regional economic development and connectivity.
The development comes as Afghan President Ashraf Ghani back in September 2020, had invited PM Imran Khan to visit Afghanistan.
There have recently been important visits from Afghanistan to Pakistan including that of Chairman High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Speaker Afghan Wolesi Jirga Rahman Rahmani, and Commerce Minister Nisar Ahmad Ghoraini.
Prior to this, PM’s Advisor on Commerce and Investment – Abdul Razzak Dawood had visited Kabul on November 16th and was received by Afghan Minister of Commerce.
Razzad Dawood discussed matters pertaining to mutual economic cooperation and relations with Afghan officials.
During his visit, he also met Dr Abdullah Abdullah – Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation and discussed peace efforts and bilateral ties.
