Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday (today), launched ‘Spring Tree Plantation Campaign’ at Ghazi Barotha as part of the government’s re-forestation campaign titled ‘10 Billion Tree Tsunami’ drive.
Addressing the ceremony, PM Imran Khan highlighted the significance of re-forestation and urged the youth to plant more trees to counter the adverse effects of climate change in Pakistan which is in fact amongst the ten most affected country from environmental change in the world.
The premier revealed that around 70% of Lahore’s tree cover vanished over the years due to negligence by previous governments and relevant authorities.
However, PTI government has taken significant steps to address the threat of climate change to ensure a better for the future generations, said PM Imran Khan.

The prime minister also announced the establishment of Special Technology zone at Kamra which will create jobs for the local population and will significantly address the issue of unemployment.
Malik Amin Aslam – SAPM on Climate Change, was also present at the ceremony and apprised that one million trees will be planted along the banks of Ghazi canal in the future during a period of three years.
