Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed grief and offered his condolences to overseas Pakistanis due to COVID-19 deaths.
Prime Minister took to social media to express his grief over the deaths of overseas Pakistanis around the world due to the novel virus.
“I am saddened by the news of the death of countless Pakistanis living & working abroad who have fallen victim to the COVID19,” the prime minister tweeted.
Imran Khan then went onto pay tribute to Pakistani expatriates who have fallen while serving on the frontlines as healthcare workers in various countries.
“The premier also wishes for a speedy recovery to those who are still fighting for their lives in hospitals. My prayers also for early recovery of those still battling COVID19. You are all in our prayers. We can never forget all of you far away from Pak who continue to do us proud & are our greatest asset,” he noted.
Around 80 Pakistanis have been reported to have died due to COVID-19 in New York City alone.
With 2.1 million confirmed cases around the world, more than 143,000 people have died from COVID-19, while around 500,000 people have recovered from the novel virus so far.
