PM Imran Khan has directed authorities to expedite the progress and completion of various developmental projects under Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA).
As per details, PM Imran Khan on Saturday (today) chaired a meeting in Islamabad to review ERRA performance and its various ongoing projects.
The meeting was also attended by Federal Minister for Planning and Development – Asad Umar, Federal Finance Minister – Shaukat Tarin, SAPM on Political Communication – Dr Shehbaz Gill and other senior government officials.
The forum was apprised in 2006, ERRA had so far completed 75% of its total development portfolios of 14,704 projects, whereas 14% were currently under construction.
Furthermore, the participants were also informed that 885 projects are under construction in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and another 1,214 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
During the meeting, PM Imran Khan directed the authorities concerned to complete these on-going projects expeditiously to facilitate the people.
Established on 24 October 2005 as a direct response to deadly earthquake in Northern Pakistan, the ERRA is an independent, autonomous, and federal institution of Pakistan tasked and responsible for the operational planning, coordinating, monitoring, and regulating the reconstruction and rehabilitation operations in the earthquake affected areas of the country.
ERRA served as the apex institution for formulating the national earthquake public policy for the government and managed financial funds for the efforts and operations involved in the reconstruction programmes.
