Prime Minister Imran Khan, Bill Gates mulled over various healthcare and climate change issues over telephonic conversation on Wednesday (today).
According to the statement issued by Prime Minister’s Office, PM Imran Khan held a telephonic conversation with Bill Gates – Co Chair of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The two mulled over COVID-19, polio virus and various ‘health and developmental’ issues along with the threat posed by climate change.
During the telephonic conversation, PM Imran Khan praised Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for its efforts for poverty alleviation and tackling COVID-19 pandemic notably Gates Foundation’s strong advocacy to promote equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines.

The premier also apprised Bill Gates of various pro-environmental measures and initiatives taken by Pakistan to tackle climate change.
Prime minister also accentuated the issue of food insecurity. Food systems are particularly vulnerable to climate change, he emphasized that the global leaders should prioritize investments in agricultural research for adaptation, he added.
Meanwhile, Bill Gates also acknowledged and lauded Pakistan’s contributions to tackle climate change and noted that synergized efforts on a global scale are needed against the threat of climate change.
Pakistan has a robust partnership with the Gates Foundation, including, inter alia, Gates Foundation’s continued support to the Ehsaas Programme, which helps the most vulnerable segment of Pakistan’s population, said PM Imran Khan.
The duo agreed on the importance of urgently stopping the spread of COVID-19, polio and other vaccine-preventable diseases in Pakistan and reiterated their commitment to continue working together in future on shared objectives and goals.
