Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday, discussed matters of mutual interests and cooperation with Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg.
PM Imran Khan held a virtual meeting with Facebook Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Sheryl Sandberg and discussed matters of mutual interests and prospects of future cooperation between Pakistan and the social media giant.
During the meeting, the premier highlighted concerns regarding hate and extremism and acknowledged the immense challenge of tackling online hate speech.
The two also mulled over Facebook’s connectivity investments and research grants that were awarded this year to Pakistan-based academics.
Furthermore, PM Imran Khan expressed gratitude over Facebook’s investments and programs in Pakistan and encouraged them to increase their footprint.
He also stressed upon the immense potential of digital platforms like Facebook and their role in giving global opportunities to Pakistani youth and entrepreneurs.
The meeting also included other topics of discussion such as Facebook’s blood donations product which has seen more than 5 million people sign up since its launch, along with anti-polio initiatives in support of government’s efforts to ensure a polio-free Pakistan.
