Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid an unannounced visit to the distribution points of free wheat flour here on Friday and directed the concerned authorities to ensure an uninterrupted and hassle-free supply of the commodity to the poor, entitled people.
The free wheat flour is being distributed in the federal capital and across Punjab under the Ramazan Package announced by the government to reduce the burden of inflation from the low and middle-income groups.
The prime minister, during the visit, interacted with the people, including children at the distribution centers, and listened to the problems they faced by them. He issued instructions for immediate redressal of their problems.
PM Shehbaz directed the relevant authorities to continue the distribution process till the 25th of Ramazan as per the program announced by the federal government.
PM inspects free wheat flour supply process
The prime minister, who also distributed flour bags among the beneficiaries, inspected the supply process with the officials checking the particulars of the people before guiding them to the distribution point.
He also directed the authorities to provide special care and attention to all, particularly senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and women. He also called for arrangements to facilitate those women coming with their children.
Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the secretary of food, Punjab chief secretary, commissioner and deputy commissioner, and other officials for good arrangements at the distribution centers.
As per the plan, about 15.8 million households in Punjab province would receive wheat flour free of charge during the Holy Ramazan for the first time.
The flour distribution would continue till the 25th of Ramazan through 8,500 Utility Stores. Moreover, nearly 20,000 flour distribution points have also been set up to facilitate the people.
