ISLAMABAD: PM Imran Khan on Friday has promised of progress on development projects worth Rs162 billion in Karachi.
He shared this during a review meeting on the metropolis’s ongoing projects. He assured the federal government’s commitment to finishing these projects as part of the public welfare plan for Karachi.
PM lamented that Karachi has been brutally ignored in the past in terms of civic facilities and public welfare. He added that economic activity is vital for building Karachi’s image. Improvement in Karachi port and transportation facilities is also on government’s agenda.
It was also decided during the meeting that Sindh Infrastructure Development Company would be revived to deliver its best in terms of development projects. The PM was also briefed about various ongoing construction projects including Jinnah Avenue flyover, progress on Green Line bus project, and other ongoing projects under the PM’s program in Sindh, public private partnership initiatives in water filtration plants, Lyari Expressway renovation and Karachi Northern Bypass extension.
The PM was briefed about the recent inauguration of Sakhi Hasan, Five Star Chowrangi and KDA flyovers, 6.4km-long road and the timeline of Green Line Bus Rapid Transit system which is expected to be completed to be completed by March 2021.
