Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced to provide domestic air tickets at a discounted price to doctors and paramedical staff amid coronavirus crisis.
According to details, the national carrier will provide a 10 per cent discount to doctors and paramedical staff on domestic flight fares as a gesture of gratitude and appreciation for their selfless services amid coronavirus outbreak in the country.
The discount in tickets is a way to ‘pay tribute to frontline heroes who had been battling against Covid-19’, said PIA CEO Air Marshal Arshad Malik.
PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan has stated that anyone can avail these discounted tickets by showing their Pakistan Medical and Dental Colleges card at PIA offices.
Prior to this, PIA had also announced an increase of 15 kilogram in the checked baggage limit on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr.
It is to be noted that government
had resumed domestic flight operations on May 16. However, domestic flights are
limited to Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta airports, whereas the
ban on international flight operations
has been extended to May 31.
