Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced its decision to offer 10% discount for passengers who vaccinated passengers aged 50 and above.
According to PIA officials, the 10% discount offer will only be viable for domestic flights and will be applicable to passengers aged 50 and above who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 coronavirus.
PIA intends to boost government’s vaccination campaign against COVID-19, said Arshad Malik – CEO PIA.
It is to be noted that Pakistan government has made COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for all public and private sector employees as part of the ongoing nationwide inoculation drive against the novel virus.
Meanwhile, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) approved the allocation of US$ 1 billion for procuring COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday a day earlier.
The grant will be used for procuring CanSino, Sinopharm, Sinovac, and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines.
Pakistan is currently utilizing a total of six COVID-19 vaccines namely Sinopharm, CansinoBio, Sputnik V, Oxford AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Sinovac to carryout nation-wide inoculation drive against the novel virus.
According to NCOC figures, 4,741,579 people have been partially vaccinated against COVID-19 with 2,540,238 people being fully vaccinated against the novel virus with the total administered doses of COVID-19 vaccine standing at 9,559,910.
