A special flight operated by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), on Monday, landed at Karachi airport bringing back 51 Pakistanis who were stranded in Sri Lanka due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
According to details, 51 Pakistani citizens have been brought back from Sri Lanka via flight UL 1185. Upon arrival all the passengers were screened and then shifted to a quarantine facility for the next 48 hours.
Furthermore, PIA officials have announced that another Lahore bound flight is scheduled from Karachi, today.
Sources say that Ayesha Abubakar Fahad represented Pakistani High Commission in Sri Lanka, and was present at the airport to see off the departure of Pakistani citizens.
Prior to this, over 100 Pakistanis who returned to Pakistan from Abu Dhabi on April 28, tested positive for coronavirus.
Moeed Yusuf – Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Security Division and Strategic Policy Planning, had announced that anyone returning from foreign countries will be subjected to government’s SOPs without any exception and had to spend 48 hours in quarantine.
“Our main goal is to stem the spread of the virus. Which is why when a passenger returns it is mandatory, he/she quarantines for 48 hours,” he noted.
