Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced its decision to expand its flight operations in neighboring Afghanistan along with other destinations.
Air Marshal (Retd) Arshad Malik – CEO PIA met with Dr Qasim Wafaizada – Afghan Aviation Head and mulled over avenues and future opportunities in aviation industry between the two neighboring countries.
PIA intends to start flights to and from two Kandahar and Mazar Shareef.
In addition to it, the national carrier also aims to increase its cargo flight operations.
PIA CEO also met with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan and senior Afghan officials including members of Afghan Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
It is pertinent to know that PIA has suffered significant financial loss due to COVID-19 travel restrictions and is now working towards reviving its profitability.
Expansion of cargo operations and flights to and from Afghanistan will significantly boost PIA’s revenue generation resulting in easing of economic burden.
