The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has issued notices to various private television news channels over the issue of airing fake news regarding the suspension of Pakistani pilots in Kuwait Airways.
According to the statement issued by the media regulatory authority, various private channels have been issued ‘show cause notices’ over airing fake news stating that Pakistani pilots and engineers working for Kuwait Airways have been suspended over the fake licenses fears.
“PEMRA issues show cause notices to ARY, DUNYA TV, 24 News, Public TV and GTV for airing flse news regarding suspension/termination of Pakistani pilots and engineers working in Kuwait Airways.”

Furthermore, PEMRA has directed these channels to show cause within 14 days and tender apology for airing false news without any editorial check and verification.
It is to be noted that Pakistan’s Federal Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan had revealed that around 262 pilots, out of total 860 in the country have fake degrees and licenses, following which PIA had grounded its 150 pilots until further inquiry.
