Pakistan Democratic Alliance (PDM) has announced its decision to not boycott tomorrows National Assembly (NA) session for ‘vote of confidence’ for PM Imran Khan on Saturday (tomorrow).
As per details, PDM head and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has announced that PDM members will not participate in tomorrow’s all-important NA session.
Expressing his views in Sukkur, PDM head noted that the absence of opposition parties from tomorrow’s NA session will deprive it of any political significance whatsoever.
It is absurd that the prime minister is seeking vote of confidence from the same members he is accusing of selling their votes and voting against the party in Senate elections, said the PDM head.
Sources say that the decision to boycott Saturday’s NA session for ‘vote of confidence’ on PM Imran Khan has been made after extensive consultation between Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
The development comes as PM Imran Khan on Thursday had addressed the nation apprising the people of his decision to seek ‘vote of confidence’ after the controversial Senate elections.
The premier’s decision to seek ‘vote of confidence’ comes as PTI led government coalition’s candidate for general seat from Islamabad – Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh lost to PDM backed PPP leader and former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
Abdul Hafeez Sheikh had managed to secure 164 votes as compared to Yousuf Raza Gilani’s 169 as several votes were ‘rejected’ due to technical issues including that of PTI’s Shehryar Khan Afridi after he had mistakenly signed the ballot paper.
