Pakistan’s Armed Forces have surrendered their own COVID-19 vaccine doses received from China to be used for Pakistani citizens instead.
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Armed Forces received COVID-19 vaccine doses from China on Monday (today).
However, it has been decided that the COVID-19 vaccine donations from China will be directed towards nation-wide COVID-19 vaccine drive and will instead be used for inoculating frontline healthcare workers in the country, said ISPR.
The decision to surrender COVID-19 vaccine quota for Pakistanis has been made in accordance with the armed forces’ traditional spirit of “nation comes first, always and every time,” ISPR noted.
It is pertinent to know that Pakistan’s armed forces are the first military to receive COVID-19 vaccine from China.
The development comes as earlier, Pakistan had received 500,000 Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses from China on February 1st last week.
Meanwhile, DRAP has approved Russia’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use under Section VII of Drug Act 1976 of Pakistan.
