The food spending of Pakistanis have witnessed a reduction of 25 per cent according to a survey conducted by Gallup Pakistan.
According to the statistics compiled by Gallup Pakistan, out of 6.9 million families of which 27 per cent are urban and 20 per cent are of rural origins have reported to resort to substantially reducing their food expenditures amid COVID-19 crisis.
Furthermore, the survey also revealed that around ten million people living in cities have adopted to some alternative source of income, meanwhile 19 per cent people are reported to have no savings, neither at their homes nor in banks.
In addition to it, around 1.8 million families are reported to sell some kind of asset to cope up with the grim economic circumstances, whereas three million families are dependent on government, NGO’s and various welfare organizations amid virus pandemic.
