As per the details, Muhammad Meeran Khalsai – a Pakistani teenager secured best delegate award while speaking on the matter of Kashmir and beating Indian delegates while doing so.
Meeran Khalsai spoke on the issue of Kashmir in London International Model United Nations (LIMUN) which was held back in April 2019 last year.
Kashmir issue since 1947, has been the epicentre of Pak-India relations and has been the key factor that has immensely effected regional stability and peace between the two nuclear armed countries which have fought four wars over the disputed territory.
On August 5 2019 last year, Indian government abrogated Article 370 of the Indian constitution effectively revoking the special autonomous status of the disputed valley. Since then, a strict lockdown has been imposed in the Muslim majority to suppress the Kashmiri dissent, who have been deprived of their right to self-determination as guaranteed by international laws and conventions including United Nations Security Council Resolutions (UNSCR).
