Pakistan is likely to receive half a million COVID-19 vaccine doses from China, said FM Qureshi on Thursday (today).
In a statement, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has apprised that China will be providing 500,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to Pakistan by January 31.
The foreign minister took to social media to express gratitude to his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and noted that Pakistan has approved Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine to tackle COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
“Always great to speak to my friend, His Excellency FM Wang Yi. With encouraging results of Chinese vaccine and our historic relationship, Pakistan has approved emergency use authorization of SinoPharm. Indeed, Pakistan greatly appreciates the 500,000 doses of the vaccine gifted by China,” said FM Qureshi.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi also lauded China’ role in assisting Pakistan in its fight against COVID19 by providing technical and medical expertise.
Pakistan’s COVID-19 tally stands at 527,146 cases with 11,157 deaths so far. A total of 480,696 people have successfully recovered from the deadly virus whereas 2,324 are still in critical condition.
As per the NCOC statistics, 2,363 COVID-19 cases, along with 54 casualties were reported in the last 24 hours.
