Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has reiterated Pakistan’s desire to enhance security and military cooperation with Azerbaijan, reported ISPR on Monday.
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa, met with Ilham Aliyev – President of Azerbaijan and Colonel General Hasanov Zakir Asgar Oglux – Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence, while on his two-day official visit to the country.
Upon arrival, COAS General Bajwa was presented a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned out military contingent.
During the visit, Army Chief mulled over matters of mutual interest, regional security situation including recent developments in Afghan Peace Process and bilateral defence and security cooperation in various fields with the Azeri leadership.
Accentuating Pakistan Army’s desire to further enhance bilateral military cooperation and regional partnership between the two countries, COAS stressed that Pakistan and Azerbaijan share common values based on rich cultural, religious and historical affinities and have tremendous geo-strategic significance, potential for mutually beneficial and enhanced cooperation at all forums.
Meanwhile, the Azeri leadership expressed gratitude for Pakistan support to Azerbaijan at all international forums.
