Pakistan government has announced its decision to approach ‘Gavi’, the Vaccine Alliance – a public-private global health partnership for COVID-`19 vaccine availability in Pakistan.
According to a spokesperson for Ministry of Health, government intends to apply to COVAX, the vaccines pillar of the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator – a project being led by Gavi.
The development comes as Gavi has started entertaining applications from various countries for the availability of COVID-19 vaccine from November 17th last month.
Meanwhile, government’s coordination committee headed by Dr Faisal Sultan has also approved the recommendations issued by Special Working Group regarding improving immunity graph among the masses.
It is pertinent to know that so far Pakistan has reported 410,072 COVID-19 cases and 8,260 deaths.
A total of 3,262 new cases along with 55 casualties were reported in the last 24 hours.
