Pakistan temporarily reopened Chaman border crossing with Afghanistan on Saturday (today) for pedestrians in order to facilitate people left stranded on both side.
As per details, Pakistan has briefly reopened its Chaman border crossing with Afghanistan to allow people stranded on both sides to return to their respective countries.
We have opened the Chaman border… allowing crowds of up to 4,000 Afghans including women and children to cross over to Afghanistan to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with their families, purely on humanitarian grounds, said an official.
People would be allowed to cross until the evening, with the possibility the border would open again tomorrow, he added.
Pakistan closed the Friendship Gate indefinitely after Afghan Taliban had captured the border crossing of Spin Boldak and Wesh area.
However, trade and goods’ transport remains suspended with hundreds of trucks stuck on both sides.
Prior to this, Pakistan had reopened Friendship Gate at Pak-Afghan border for a period of three hours on Thursday a couple of days earlier.
