Pakistan has received an Rs 6 billion grant from Japan aimed at improving water treatment and distribution facilities in Faisalabad.
The agreement regarding provision of Rs 6 billion was signed between Kuninori Matsuda – Japan’s Ambassador to Pakistan and Noor Ahmed – Secretary Economic Affairs Division Pakistan.
Expressing his views Noor Ahmed reiterated that Pakistan values the congenial relations with Japan and both the countries share mutual stance on most of the regional and international affairs.
Meanwhile, Japanese envoy noted that his is the single largest grant in aid from Japan to Pakistan this year.
It is to be noted that Japan had agreed to provide US$3.7 million to support UNHCR’s programs and activities for Afghan refugees and host communities in Pakistan in February last month.
The aid will be used in education sector and will focus livelihood assistance and community structures in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, benefitting over 240,000 individuals.
