Pakistan received another one million doses of Chinese Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday (today).
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane carrying one million doses of China’s Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine landed in Islamabad on Saturday (today).
Pakistan is expected to receive 10 million COVID-19 vaccine doses from China in total. The vaccines will be of various companies including Sinopharm, Sinovac and Cansino.
Prior to this, Pakistan had received 0.5 million doses of Chinese Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine on May 30th last month. The country is also set to receive 1 million doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine later this year.
Pakistan is utilizing a total of six COVID-19 vaccines namely Sinopharm, CansinoBio, Sputnik V, Oxford AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Sinovac to carryout nation-wide inoculation drive against the novel virus.
Meanwhile, PakVac – a license produced domestic version of CaninoBio COVID-19 vaccine of China currently being manufactured by National Institute of Health (NIH) has also received DRAP’s approval to be used for the ongoing mass inoculation drive in the country.
A total of 8,263,763 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered across the country as part of the ongoing nation-wide inoculation drive. Meanwhile, 4,054,355 people have been partially vaccinated against COVID-19, whereas 2,310,115 people have been fully vaccinated against the virus.
