Pakistan Railways, on Wednesday, announced that it has established quarantine centres in train coaches in Quetta and other cities of Balochistan.
According to details, a quarantine centre comprising of 30 coaches has been established at Chaman railway station near Pak-Afghan border and will soon be inaugurated.
Pakistanis entering Chaman, Balochistan from the Wesh-Chaman border crossing with the neighbouring Kandahar Province of Afghanistan will be screened and tested for COVID-19.
Railway officials state that around 300 people can be accommodated in the quarantine centre.
Furthermore, those who test negative for the novel virus will then be transported to various parts of the country via special trains operated by Pakistan Railways.
In addition to it, Pakistan Railways intends to establish a similar type of quarantine facility at Taftan border to cater Pakistani citizens returning from Iran.
National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) has appreciated Pakistan Railways for their cooperation and said that the initiative will help in containing virus spread.
