Pakistan pays homage to Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaeed on his 22nd martyrdom anniversary on Wednesday July 7th today.
Pakistan Army’s spokesperson, DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar took to social media to pay homage to Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed on his martyrdom anniversary.
Nation pays homage to Havaldar Lalak Jan…who laid his life defending motherland against high odds in most challenging battlefield environment during Kargil conflict on 7th July 1999. His fortitude and selflessness will keep inspiring the indomitable defenders of Pakistan for times to come, read the statement issued by ISPR.
Hailing from Hundur village of Yasin Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan; Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed joined Pakistan Army in December 1984 and belonged from Northern Light Infantry. He served on the frontlines in 1999 Indo-Pak Kargil War.
During the 1999 Kargil War, Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed volunteered to be deployed on the front lines in May 1999. When his post came under a number of attacks from the Indian Army but he successfully managed to repulse them.
Lalak Jan repulsed back many aggressive ventures by the enemy and imposed colossal losses on them. Despite being seriously wounded, he retained his position and resisted the Indian assault.
He refused to be evacuated and defended his position with a handful of men and managed to inflict heavy losses to the enemy.
He embraced martyrdom on July 7th 1999 after he sustaining serious injuries from the heavy mortar fire on his positions by the Indian Army.
He was awarded with Nishan-e-Haider – Pakistan’s highest military award for his gallantry and ultimate sacrifice for the motherland.
