Pakistan Navy (PN) observes ‘World Environment Day’ today, to highlight the significance of environment and its effect on marine life in Pakistan.
In his message on ‘World Environment Day’ Chief of the Naval Staff – Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi reaffirmed Pakistan Navy’s commitment to make every effort for betterment of our environment, especially the marine environment.
M Arshid Javed – official spokesperson of Pakistan Navy took to social media to convey Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbas’s message on the occasion.
“Pakistan Navy has always promoted awareness abt significance of environment & taken measures for its betterment. The Naval Chief reaffirmed the commitment to make every effort for a healthy environment,” he tweeted.
Furthermore, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbas stated that this year’s slogan for the world environment day is ‘Biodiversity’ which supports all life on land and below water, and affects every aspect of human health.

“Human actions including deforestation, encroachment on wildlife habitats, intensified agriculture and acceleration of climate change is pushing nature beyond its limits, he said.
He also warned that if we continue on this path, biodiversity loss will have severe implications for humanity, including the collapse of food and health systems.
Highlighting Navy’s contribution he mentioned that PN has already initiated numerous measures and actions ranging from collection of solid waste from harbor, establishment of Reedbed plants in all areas under its jurisdiction besides extensive tree plantation campaign.
“I expect all under Command to initiate dedicated efforts to make these activities worthwile and successful,” he noted.
Naval Chief reiterated Pakistan Navy’s commitment in tackling climate change and various other variables that threaten our environment.
