Pakistan on Wednesday, made history by carrying out world’s first ever experimental 5G video call in Islamabad.
Syed Aminul Haque – Federal Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunication, made the world’s first ever experimental 5G video call to Beijing using Zong 4G Network – a company owned by a China Mobile.
Expressing his views, the federal minister assured that the process of laying down fiber optic cable has already been initiated and the service will be launched by next year.
What is 5G?
The term 5G stands for 5th generation mobile network. The technology enables a new kind of network that is designed to connect virtually everyone and everything together including machines, objects, and devices
5G wireless technology is meant to deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra-low latency, more reliability, massive network capacity, increased availability, and a more uniform user experience to more users. Higher performance and improved efficiency empower new user experiences and connects new industries.
The main advantage of the new networks is that they will have greater bandwidth, giving higher download speeds, eventually up to 10 gigabits per second.
The increased speed is achieved partly by using higher-frequency radio waves than previous cellular networks.
