Pakistan and India have exchanged list of prisoners held by each other, reported MoFA on Thursday (today).
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Pakistan and India have shared the list of prisoners held by each country of that of the other.
As per details, Pakistan shared the list of 609 Indian prisoners in Pakistan with Indian High Commission Islamabad.
Out of the total 609 Indian prisoners held by Pakistan, 51 are civilians whereas the rest 558 are fishermen.
Meanwhile, Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi was also given a list of 345 Pakistani prisoners held by Indian authorities.
The 345 Pakistani prisoners, include 271 civilians 74 fishermen.
This step is consistent with the clause (i) of the Agreement on Consular Access between Pakistan and India, signed on 21st May 2008, under which both countries are required to exchange lists of prisoners in each other’s custody twice a year, on 1st January and 1st July, respectively, said the MoFA press-release.
