Pakistan’s policies on social protection have been hailed by International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG) terming it best in Asia.
Sania Nishtar – Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, took to social media to highlight Pakistan’s recognition as one of the top ranked Asian country in addressing issues pertaining to social protection.
“The IPC-IG acknowledges at its global conference: Pakistan one of the top ranked countries in Asia w/ highest number of responses to social protection,” she tweeted.
The report states that South Asian countries had a large number of social protection responses to COVID-19 when compared with other Asian Nations.
The countries that effectively addressed social protection issue include Pakistan, Timor Leste, Tuvalu and Sri Lanka.
The report has been complied after a survey conducted by UNICEF, United Nations and IPC-IG to assess social protection response in Asia.
