Pakistan facing the threat of fourth COVID-19 wave, warns senior PMA official
Senior Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) official have warned of a fourth COVID-19 wave in Pakistan.
Dr Qaiser Sajjad – Secretary General PMA, has warned that Pakistan may witness its fourth COVID-19 wave in late July or early August in wake of recent spike in COVID-19 cases across the country.
Furthermore, the senior PMA official had stressed upon the need to ensure strict implementation of COVID-19 SOPs and preventive measures specially on the occasion of Eid ul Azha to prevent further virus spread.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan has also closed Torkham border crossing with Afghanistan over COVID-19 concerns.
The country reported 830 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours with a positivity rate of 2.22%; another 25 deaths were reported during this time period.
Pakistan’s total COVID-19 tally stands at 964,490 cases with 22,425 deaths so far. A total of 908,648 people have successfully recovered from the novel virus, whereas 1,968 are still in critical condition.
It is to be noted that Federal Minister for Planning and Development – Asad Umar in June last month, had also warned of a fourth COVID-19 wave that might hit Pakistan in July this month.
